My best friend gave me a diary on my 12th birthday and from then on I was 'hooked' on writing. In high school I wrote for then edited the school paper, but didn't have anything else in print until my first [paid] weekly column for a small town newspaper. From the weekly paper I began writing a regular column and feature assignments for a city daily newspaper, first as freelance then as staff. From that daily I spent time as a contributing editor and feature writer for a weekly magazine and in-house corporate magazine. Remarriage and a move from Alberta to Colorado soon lined me up with an afiliate newspaper of USA TODAY, a Colorado based magazine and a NY based magazine then a multi-part feature for the Denver Post. The Post columns became the basis for my first published book [nonfiction]. However, fiction - mystery, suspense specifically was always my first passion. So beginning in 2006 I stopped accepting journalism work to develop my gathering fiction plot ideas...
