About Me

A sparsely published Poet and Short Story Writer, A 75-year-old white male, happily married (3rd time lucky)( to Suzanna, light of my life.  An omniverous reader and prolific poet (some 230 finished poems.  Considering serlf-publishing a "Collected Poems", as they each have valency.  Somewhat eclectic in attitudes, poetic preferences, with no discernible influences, with the exception of Shelley.  Like Shelley a commited Chartost (Republican) andf Socialst, I am politicaly active and socially involved.  I am retired, but still dabble in Marketing and Advertising upon occasion - for worthy causes.

World travelled and still filled with a swense of curiousity, I am currently enjoying an Indian Summer as far as writing is concerned.  In the last year, I estimate I have written some 70 poems, without curcease.

About Me

James M. Vaughn, historian, researcher, historic preservation advocate, and retired Army officer, was born in Evansville, Indiana, and grew up there and in nearby Princeton, Indiana, before moving with his family to Indianapolis following his freshman year at Princeton High School. He graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School, Indianapolis, in 1957.

A graduate of Butler University (BS in Business/History), he joined the U. S. Army where he served as a commissioned officer in the Army Finance Corps. He retired from military service in 1988 and held financial controllership positions in Indiana state and local government for several years and also worked as a financial and educational consultant. During military service, he earned two advanced college degrees: Master of Arts (Business Administration) from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri; and Master of Arts (Political Science) from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. When professionally active in financial management, he was a Certified Government Financial Manager and a Certified Fraud Examiner. He has been listed in Who’s Who in Finance and Industry; Who’s Who in the Midwest; Who’s Who in Writers, Editors, and Poets; and Who’s Who in Sigma Nu. His volunteer service includes ten years on the Supervisory Committee of the Finance Center Federal Credit Union, Indianapolis, and six years on the board of the Fort Benjamin Harrison Historical Society, Indianapolis. He is a member of the American Historical Association, a professional association for historians.

As a historian, Vaughn's recently published book reflects his long interest in Indiana history, which ultimately led him to the story of the iconic West Baden Springs Hotel. His interest in the hotel included the collecting of memorabilia on the hotel--photographs, postcards, stories--for more than 40 years before deciding in late 2007 to write a definitive history of the hotel and beginning the detailed research to support that decision. The research and writing took almost five years, and it was followed by a year of editing, responding to reviewers' comments on the final draft manuscript, finding a printer and bindery, seeing the book printed, and planning the book's marketing. While the personal satisfaction of seeing your book published is certainly high, it was a daunting process to serve as both author and publisher. Prior to writing/publishing The Dome in the Valley, Vaughn’s articles appeared in several peer-review professional journals: Army Finance Journal (January 1970) and Armed Forces Comptroller (Fall 1998). His writing interests grew as an undergraduate student at Butler University, where he wrote numerous articles and columns for the university newspaper.

Vaughn is now fully retired and lives with his wife in Indianapolis, where he stays busy with historical research and writing.

Other information

The Dome in the Valley: The History and Rebirth of the West Baden Springs Hotel covers in encyclopedic fashion the more than 150 years of the southern Indiana domed hotel’s existence—the early years, the years of prominence, the years of reuse as educational institutions, the years of decline, and the years of restoration and rebirth. It also describes the interesting owners, the prominent visitors who came to play and rest, and the special connection to the hotel of the early professional baseball and boxing worlds. The story of the hotel, which opens a portal to a wider world of its time and place, is the story of one of the greatest historic preservation success stories in America. More information can be found at the book Web site--www.domeinthevalley.com.

About Me

I write true stories in a creative and entertaining way. I am an independent author, having just completed my second full length creative non-fiction novel. I've written since the age of 8. I started out writing poems and songs. I've written short stories, screenplays and novels.

The book I just finished is the second in a trilogy of true stories. A unique thing I do that sets me apart from other authors, is that I release a music CD with each book I write. The CDs are all original music and match the time period of the book.

When I'm not writing, you'll find me volunteering at Texas Music Festivals, reading or playing with my grandchildren.

About Me

Award-winning writer Janine Donoho grew up navigating extremes—perhaps due to the ups and downs of her San Franciscan birthplace. That Escher landscape primed her to embrace imaginary worlds. With one foot planted in fuzzy science and the other in invented realms, she inhabits the land of What If. Published in novel length and short fiction, along with essays, Janine pursues the thumps that echo in the night—and writes about those, too.

With her intrepid husband, Italian greyhound and tuxedo cat, Janine makes her home in the spectacular Okanogan highlands of Washington State. Mountain lions, coyotes and bears—oh, my!

Epic and contemporary fantasy fill my writer's vision right now as progress continues with the 1st draft of my Earth Elemental while my Fire Elemental waits in the wings. Now and then, poems push themselves through the crust as do short stories and essays.

You're always welcome into my worlds. Consider this a personal invitation.

About Me

Born in Coledale, PA and raised in NJ. Lived in NYC for about 7 years. Met my husband in 1978 and married in 1985. Have been happily married ever since! Now, we live in beautiful Mesa AZ.

Author of "The Mons Connection" and "Infected and Other Short Stories" as well as short stories in the SciFi / Occult / Horror genre(s) and an upcoming paranormal / occult series.

I was always interested in science fiction, action adventure and comedy. Tried my hand at writing a book back in the 1970's but did not have the direction I needed in order to complete it. The story was going along great until one day while I was sitting at my typewriter (remember those?) and the thought suddenly struck me that I had no idea where I was going with the story or how it was going to end. Now, many years later, I do have the drive and direction to write a complete book. My only regret is that it took me this long.

A lot of my ideas come from "What if?" For example, "What if there were a mountain on another planet that wasn't exactly a mountain?" or "What if we could reanimate corpses and have them perform menial tasks?" The whole world is full of "What if?" we just have to explore it.

My favorite color is blue. I just love blue. Being from NJ, of course, my favorite food is a good, NY style pizza. Not much of a "ball sport" fan, but I love motor racing. Doesn't matter if it's cars, motorcycles or boats. I'm also a big nature and animal lover. My husband (who also writes, by the way), and I currently have 3 dogs and 1 cat. Love them all.
